Did You Know?

2- You are not required to purchase instruments. Local music shops have great quality instruments for monthly rental fees and the Eaton Band program has instruments to rent for $30 per school year.
3- Students in music can still take a high school credit class in 8th grade. Music students are able to opt out of Physical Education in 8th grade in order to take a foreign language or computer class for high school credit if they are involved in an organized sport or physical activity 2/3rds of the school year. 4- Music students have a graduation rate of 100%!!! Being involved in music promotes dedication, responsibility, respect and a work ethic that fosters success!
5- Students that are planning for Advanced Diplomas can take Band all through middle and high school and still have room to take other electives.

Concert Attire
Concert Band- school issued tuxedo shirt, cummerbund and bow tie with personal black dress pants, socks and dress shoes. Jeans or tennis shoes/ skate shoes are not acceptable.
Beginning Band- Dress clothes. No short skirts, jeans, t-shirts or tennis shoes/ skate shoes. Button down shirts with collars for men. Ties are optional.
Any Beginning Band students involved in percussion ensemble need to have plain white shirts and black pants.

MaterialsSchool instrument rental is $15/semester or $30 for the year. Local music stores also rent or rent-to own student instruments.
All Beginning Students: -Standard of Excellence Band Method Book 1 (Red) - specific to instrument (Students will receive the suggested instrument choice as well as any specific supplies needed after the Instrument Trial experience is completed) -And supplies specific to your instrument such as, sticks, valve oil or reeds Intermediate Brass and Woodwind Instruments: -Standard of Excellence Band Method Book 2 (Blue) - specific to instrument -And supplies specific to your instrument such as valve oil or reeds Percussion Students: -Vic Firth SD1 General Snare drum sticks -Method book: Fundamental Studies for Snare Drum -Practice pads, bell sets are available to rent from school |
